Thankfully the ducks escaped without injury
A huge flock of ducks have been rescued by the RSPCA after getting into difficulty in a steep weir. It was a quacking effort by the specially-trained officers who brought the 65 mallard ducks to safety after they became trapped at the River Calder aqueduct near Catterall.
The birds were given a thorough health check before being released into Lancaster Canal, where they swiftly swam away. Carl said: "The water there is fast flowing and quite a difficult stretch to work on, so it took us well over three hours to catch the ducks as they were obviously very wary of being approached.
