Security guards told police about the 62-year-old
A woman has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after leaving the road at a busy roundabout before hitting a road sign. Greater Manchester Police says its officers arrested the 62-year-old in Horwich, Bolton, this morning .
Security guards from Middlebrook Retail Park first contacted the force about the driver. GMP says the driver mounted the pavement at the Beehive roundabout, where De Havilland Way meets Chorley New Road. After leaving the road, the driver hit and damaged a road sign on the roundabout, GMP says. A spokesperson for GMP Bolton wrote on Facebook: "Officers from the Horwich neighbourhood team have today arrested a 62-year-old female on suspicion of drink driving."Officers were alerted by security officers from Middlebrook retail park, who were first at the scene. The female driver mounted the pavement at the Beehive roundabout and damaged a road sign.
"She is in custody and will be interviewed about this incident. The investigation is ongoing and we will provide an update in due course."
