The westbound carriageway remains closed between junction 36 of the M6 and Brettargh Holt
Emergency services were called to an incident on the A590 westbound at 6.15am today . Cumbria Police said a man in his 60s was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The carriageway between junction 36 of the M6 and Brettargh Holt remains closed for recovery and investigation works to take place. Police are now appealing for information and witnesses in relation to the tragic incident.A force spokesperson said: "Officers are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on the A590 westbound. Emergency services were contacted at 6:15am today to the report of a collision involving two HGVs.
"A man in his 60s was pronounced deceased at the scene. The A590 westbound between junction 36 and Brettargh Holt remains closed whilst recovery takes place. You can also phone on 101.Traffic monitoring service reports: "A590 Northbound closed due to accident investigation work from M6 J36 to A591 . Traffic is coping well.
"Incident occurred at around 06:30 this morning which has since closed the road. Lane one has also been closed on the M6 northbound exit slip".
