Emergency services raced to the M8 near junction 22 at around 7.30am today following reports of the incident on the westbound lane.
Drivers are facing major delays on the M8 this morning after a multi-vehicle smash closed the carriageway.
An update outlined: "A closure was in place at J22, but traffic can now either use the S/B #M77 or continue on the #M8 to J24 and use the exit/entry slip roads as a diversion."
