It’s the largest number of jobs added since July 2022, when the state grew by more than 73,000 jobs.
“The record-setting civilian labor force of 15.1 million people enhances the state’s economy,” said TWC labor commissioner Alberto Treviño. Employment among nine of the eleven major industries expanded over the month. Trade, transportation and utilities saw significant growth over the month with 15,200 jobs added and professional and business services gained 14,900 jobs in September.Last month’s growth continues Texas’ leadership across the nation in the number of jobs added over the month and over the last year, Gov. Greg Abbott said in a statement.
“We are America’s jobs leader because Texas moves at the speed of business, cutting red tape and getting out of the way so businesses thrive, jobs grow, and Texans prosper,” Abbott said.September also showed strong job listings for the state’s oil and natural gas industry. There were nearly 12,000 active job listings and more than 4,500 new job postings in September, according to the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association.
“Texas continues to lead the nation in energy production,” said TIPRO President Ed Longanecker. “Year-to-date through July 2023, Texas oil production accounted for over 43 percent of all oil production in the U.S.”, Business Reporter.
