'It was nice being able to relate to what she said, she was talking to us about her own experiences and she was really nice'
The Princess of Wales visited Nottingham Trent University on Wednesday, October 11, as she spoke with numerous students and members of staff about the importance of mental health at both NTU and The University of Nottingham. Her Royal Highness arrived at the Clifton campus greeted by a large crowd of students waving and cheering.
"It was nice." She added that having someone like the Princess talk about the importance of mental health really helps spread the message as it is "coming from such an important face." The Princess also asked the students about what sort of things keep coming up, and shared some of her own thoughts on the matter as well as some of what had been discussed on the matter of mental health during her visit to Birmingham on Tuesday, October 10. Her Royal Highness then participated in a step-in circle, where she and several NTU students stood in a circle, and if the statement read out applied to them, they would take a step forward into the circle.
She said: "It was really nice hearing about her university experience as well. It was nice being able to relate to what she said, she was talking to us about her own experiences and she was really nice. Briony explained that she only found out at about half past six this morning about the visit, and that they "didn't know anything." During the discussion, Mario Ogboriavwien, 23, who is in his second year studying cyber security, shared his experiences of mental health at the university and how he helped create a society.
He said: "I was unsure what to expect as I have never had this kind of royal visit before. I was really nervous and not sure what to say and it went well, even more so than I expected."
