Police are upping patrols and appealing for witnesses to come forward after last night's (April 16) incident.
A councillor has vowed to get the 'criminal poison' out of a north Manchester town after a 'targeted and reckless' shooting last night. An investigation is underway after officers responded to reports of the suspected shooting on Rochdale Road in Harpurhey at around 11.20pm last night .
A cordon was in place on Fernclough Road today while Tactical Aid Unit officers carried out investigations with sniffer dogs also used. Patrols have also been increased in the area.Harpurhey councillor, Pat Karney, has reacted with 'alarm' at the incident, which he says has deeply worries local residents. He told the Manchester Evening News: "We welcome the extra police patrols in Harpurhey.
Witnesses or any others with footage or information about last night's incident has been urged to come forward by police. "This was a reckless attack and will not be tolerated in our communities in Greater Manchester. Extra patrol officers have been deployed around the local area both on foot and in patrol cars.
