Students across Nottinghamshire have seemingly bucked the national trend of top grades falling, with many celebrating incredible success
Pupils and staff at Nottingham Academy, located on Greenwood Road and part of Greenwood Academies Trust, have come together to celebrate A Level grades this morning.
Ben Smith, who is excited to receive two A’s in chemistry and mathematics and a B in physics. Ben has secured his place to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nottingham. "I’m hoping to go on to Nottingham Trent University, which I’m looking forward to.” James, from Underwood, previously attended schools for people with special educational needs and disabilities including Portland College – and it was there he heard about West Nottinghamshire College. He initially joined a foundation course before enrolling on a computer science programme.

Ben King “I’m ecstatic, I’m so happy with the outcome. My time at Trent has been wonderful, especially in boarding as Head of Shuker House. I’m very proud to have got into University College London to study Economics.” Along with the rigours of A Level studies and extra-curricular pursuits, a number of pupils took on the challenging Extended Project Qualification with 100% of students achieving A*-B and 56% achieving the top A* and A grades.
Students at The Becket Sixth Form, West Bridgford, triumphed with a 98.9% pass rate with 25.5% of students achieving A*-A grades and 81.5% overall A*- C grades. St Peter and St Paul Sixth Form, Lincoln, saw standout students, Thaddeous Boyns and Jade Hawkins achieving an A*AB and A*BB respectively. Familial success at East Leake Sixth Form continued with twins Sam and Oliver Hildred as two of our highest achievers. Sam gained three A* grades in biology, chemistry and sport. He will be taking up his place at the University of Birmingham to study medicine. Twin brother Oliver achieved A* grades in business studies and economics, and an A grade in sport.
