Yes, they are often silly. But they are rarely harmless. Indeed, they're among the most dangerous people to walk the earth. Now we come to the second part of the problem: their role as corporate owners directing enormous pools of capital towards fossil fuel production and infrastructure. Billionaires clearly have a choice where to put their money, but there are only rare exceptions to the pattern—such as, who put the company's ownership into a trust, declaring"Earth is now our only shareholder."
