New Braunfels will spend $4.55 million from sales tax revenue to purchase its city-owned utility’s headquarters on Main Plaza . The City Council voted 5-0 on Monday night to approve the funding from the New Braunfels Economic Development Corporation . Mayor Neal Linnartz and recently elected District 3 representative D. Lee Edwards were absent from the meeting.
Top stories from the booming region Deputy City Manager Jordan Matney told the council Monday that the purchase of the property is an “incredible opportunity.” If the purchase agreement is approved, the city will then “relaunch negotiations for a private redevelopment of the site,” according to her presentation.
