No one knows who is behind it
Jokers have been known to have a bit of fun with Goosey, the Goose Fair legend, over the years. One year the old girl was spotted wearing a purple pullover, which turned out to be a yarn bomb in celebration of Nottingham being awarded Purple Flag status.
Another time she sported a neckerchief supporting the environment stating 'Love Goosey, Love Earth' and then, during the pandemic, like the rest of the population, she was wearing a mask. This year it appears that Goosey has laid a golden egg at her home on the Mansfield Road roundabout near Forest Recreation Ground - but no one knows who is behind it.
A spokesman for Nottingham City Council said: "We're aware it's appeared but it's nothing to do with us. Where it's from is a bit of a mystery." Goosey, who has her own account on X, responded: "I usually keep them hidden in my nest, but frankly after an extra kebab from Mansfield Road, anything can happen!"
