Four employees now have sued the company saying they should have been granted religious exemptions after they refused COVID 19 vaccinations.
Three former employees of The Hershey Company sued the company last week for its COVID-19 vaccine mandate that resulted in them getting fired.
Each exemption was denied because the company said accommodating their religious beliefs would “create an undue hardship,” the lawsuit said. The Hershey Company’s vaccine mandate applied to corporate employees but did not extend to retail and manufacturing employees, nor employees of Chocolate World, according to the lawsuit.
Malovic, of Ponte Vedra, Florida, joined the company as a corporate meeting planner in 2013 and was later promoted to senior sourcing specialist for marketing before being fired in 2022. Both Gurdock and Stoffel are Roman Catholic and refused the COVID-19 vaccine because they believed the vaccine was created, tested or manufactured using aborted fetus tissue.However, the vaccine was tested using fetal cell lines, which are grown in laboratories from cells taken from aborted fetal tissue that was collected in the 1970s and 80s,. The tissue reproduces indefinitely and the tissue used to test the vaccine was not the original tissue collected.
