NEW THIS MORNING: A Maricopa officer was reportedly shot after responding to reports of vehicle break-ins hours ago.
MARICOPA, AZ — A police officer and a suspect are in critical condition after an incident early Wednesday morning in Maricopa.
According to initial information from the scene, the incident started when officers responded to reports of multiple people breaking into vehicles near Honeycutt and Hartman roads. When officers arrived at the scene, one of the officers was reportedly shot in the leg, suffering critical injuries. One of the people believed to have been involved in the car break-ins was also shot during the ordeal and is in critical condition.No further information has been released.
