Michael Main, 55, was convicted by a jury of 17 felony counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual assault.
The victim went to Libertyville police in 2016, alleging the years of assault. After an investigation, Main was taken into custody and has remained in the Lake County jail in lieu of $1.5 million bail.
Main went on trial this week, and the jury returned its guilty verdicts Thursday after only an hour of deliberation“The survivor took that courageous step to come forward, and their faith in the system paid off yesterday,” State’s Attorney Eric Rinehart said. “We are pleased that the jury saw the truth of this case, and I want to commend the Libertyville police department and the trial team for their outstanding work.
A hearing on post-trial motions has been scheduled for September before Judge James Booras. Main faces up to 80 years in prison at sentencing, prosecutors said.
