Los Angeles Chargers general manager Joe Hortiz says it was difficult to move on from wide receiver Keenan Allen.

The Los Angeles Chargers made one of the most difficult decisions they'll make all offseason long when they traded away their Pro Bowl wide receiver, Keenan Allen. After 11 seasons of donning the powder blue, Allen will now wear navy blue and orange as a Chicago Bear. The Bolts made the move to clear some cap space as Allen was taking a large chunk of their money—$23.1 million in cap space, to be exact. It was reported that the Chargers brass approached Allen for a pay cut, but he refused.

'It's always difficult for a player like him certainly, but it creates an opportunity for other players to step up,' Hortiz continued. 'Again, we're not done building that room out so we're going to look to continue to add pieces to that room.'I think when you're talking about trading Keenan specifically, yeah that's not a decision you make with no acknowledgment of, 'This is a talented player that can still compete,'' Hortiz added.
