'I had to tell my eight-year-old daughter I have incurable cancer just days before Christmas'
A mum has had to tell her eight-year-old daughter she had incurable cancer just days before Christmas as she began chemotherapy.
"The only thing going through my head was 'how do I tell my eight-year-old again what her mam is going to go through?'" Doctors originally thought the pain could be the result of having her lymph nodes removed. However, Amy said: "I had a CT scan to see if there was any damage. They did an MRI and I didn't think much of it. They said the MRI showed up some shadows on my neck and did another CT scan but I was poorly.
"I was 25 years old, why weren't they doing scans to check up on me? I had been going back to the consultant but I was kept on the injection. They didn't do any scans. Now it's right before Christmas and I [started chemotherapy] on Friday and I'm usually poorly off it. I'm hoping and praying I can pull myself together for Christmas."
"My partner has been my rock. It is hard for people, I keep saying I'm not a monster - I'm just me. I want to stay as 'normal' as I can and still do things with her - that's all she's asked. All Evie's asked is if we can go on holiday.
