AG Merrick Garland responded to Hunter Biden’s plea deal, attempting to distance himself from the investigation. “As I said from the moment of my appointment...I would leave this matter in the hands of the United States attorney [for Delaware.]”

A reporter asked Garland whether the Department of Justice exercised a double standard while investigating the president’s son when the DOJ indicted former President Donald Trump on 37 federal charges earlier this month.“As I said from the moment of my appointment as attorney general, I would leave this matter in the hands of the United States attorney” for Delaware, Garland said, referring to David Weiss, who was appointed by the Trump administration.

Weiss is leading the investigation into Hunter Biden, who announced he would be pleading guilty to three federal counts on Tuesday. The charges include two tax-related misdemeanors and one felony gun possession crime.
