The toddler, who was only 20-months-old at the time of the incident in August 2020, was spotted by concerned members of the public.Prosecutor Jeremy O’Neill said: “The passers-by attempted to engage with the child, but he continued to cry.
“He was shouting for his mother. They attempted to gain access to the common close and were trying numerous buzzers for about ten minutes, before eventually gaining access.The child was shivering as he stood on the balcony, and police were contacted.Officers arrived at 7.30pm and spoke to those who called. Cops also knocked on the flat door, but no one answered.The 31-year-old was found sleeping in a bedroom. It was obvious that she was drunk when she was woken up by officers.
“I think you know you put your son in danger and people passing by tried to intervene, but police had to attend. “He is now out with your care. It’s going to take some time for you to try to work your way back. I am heartened to see you have started that work. “You need to continue down that road if you want to get your son back. I'm prepared to admonish you. Your punishment is what’s happened to you.”
