BRECKSVILLE, Ohio -- Cuyahoga Valley National Park is commemorating its 50th anniversary with special celebratory events running through the end of 2025. Visitors will have opportunities to learn park history from national speakers, connect with the arts through concerts and join enriching adventures on the park’s trails, rails and river.
The park is collaborating with the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park and other partners to plan a variety of 50th anniversary activities. More anniversary events have yet to be announced, but those interested can stay up to date through the park’s anniversary website at “Cuyahoga Valley National Park expands the idea of what a national park can be,” Cuyahoga Valley National Park Superintendent Lisa Petit said in a press release. “Since the park was created by Congress on December 27, 1974, we have been working to realize its purpose as a park by, of and for the people. We invite all people to come see for yourself that there is something for everyone and to be part of the park’s future.
The first two celebratory events are Lyceum Lectures at Happy Days Lodge, located at 500 W. Streetsboro St. in Peninsula:: On Sept. 9 at 7 p.m., Sara Zewde of Studio Zewde will present research on CVNP’s rich history and how it stands out as an urban park. Registration is availableOn Oct. 22, award-winning environmental historian William Bryan will lead a discussion on the complex legacies of America’s suburban landscape.
