It beat a rival retailer by just 25p per basket of staple items
Consumer group Which? found that Aldi was the cheapest supermarket for the tenth month in a row - but it was close. The research compared the price of the same basket of 41 items at different major retailers.
Aldi was the cheapest overall, with the shop costing £72.54 - beating its rival discounter Lidl by just 25p. The most expensive supermarket in the monthly price comparison was Waitrose.At £92.55, the same shop was £20.01 more expensive at Waitrose than at Aldi. Of the "big four" supermarkets, Sainsbury's was the cheapest at £80.27.

This is the tenth month in a row we have been named as the UK’s cheapest supermarket, and we couldn’t be more delighted. In the face of an ongoing cost-of-living crisis, we’re proud that our customers can save over £20 on basket spend by shopping with Aldi.
