St Mary's were impressive winners over rivals Warrenpoint last weekend and face Loughinisland in the second round on Saturday
Over the years Kevin McKernan has played in a number of different positions for Burren. However, it was a shock to many neutrals at Páirc Esler last Sunday to see the former Down star line out at goals for St Mary’s ahead of their Championship opener against neighbours Warrenpoint.
“Kevin had played in goals way back in underage and was actually quite good at it. We started him in goals fairly early in the season. “The one that followed, they were through again and Kevin made a brilliant save. It was soft , but things like that happen,” added McCorry. Burren lost out to Warrenpoint at the quarter-final stage on penalties last year, but St Mary’s were impressive winners of Sunday’s tie and will return to Páirc Esler to take on Loughinisland on Saturday .
