An investigation is underway after a body was found inside a burning vehicle in west Birmingham.
Once the blaze was extinguished, authorities discovered what is believed to be a human body inside of the vehicle, said Officer Truman Fitzgerald.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office took custody of the victim, Fitzgerald said. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said the death is being investigated as a homicide and that there were reports of gunfire prior to the blaze.Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 205-254-1764 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
