The man's death was Berkeley's first homicide of 2011.
The Berkeley Police Department on Wednesday sought public information on the anniversary of the shooting death of a 30-year-old man.
Tobias"Toby" Pemadorji Eagle was found on March 8, 2011 unresponsive in a backyard in the area of Blake Street and McGee Avenue,"shot to death by unknown suspects," Berkeley police reported. "Detectives believe there are individuals with information about this case and are asking for their help," the BPD said."Even the smallest detail could be critical in solving this crime."
Eagle's death was Berkeley's first homicide of 2011. Berkeleyside reported in the days after the murder that Eagle was waiting at the home for his fiancée and their son when the suspect or suspects entered the backyard and "shot him in the back." The City of Berkeley is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction"of all responsible suspects." Those with information were asked to call the BPD Homicide Unit at 510 981-5741 or the department's non-emergency number at 510 981-5900.
