BERKELEY — A 36-year-old Berkeley man has been charged with two misdemeanors for allegedly harassing 15-year-old Berkeley High students in two separate incidents last year, court records show.
Mohamed Elnagdy was charged last month with two counts of annoying or molesting a minor, both misdemeanors, for alleged incidents that took place in August and October, court records show. In a March 3 court appearance, he pleaded not guilty. Elnagdy allegedly approached a 15-year-old girl on Aug. 26, at a bus stop near Oregon and Sacramento Streets, and told her, “We should hang out. I need friends.” The girl ignored him but took a picture of him with her cellphone, and later showed police, authorities say.
The second incident was more nefarious, according to authorities. Elnagdy allegedly asked a 15-year-old girl out to lunch on Oct. 4, near San Pablo Park, then persistently asked for her phone number. She told police she gave it to him in order to get him to stop bugging her, and that he later texted her offering her marijuana.
Elnagdy continued to communicate with the girl after she told him she was underage, and called her several times. On one of the occasions her mother picked up and told him to stop, authorities say.
