Yosemite: National Parks Service employee charged with secretly filming law enforcement officer as she showered

YOSEMITE — A National Park Service maintenance worker has been charged with attempting to take video of a law enforcement officer as she showered at Yosemite National Park, court records show.

The alleged victim is identified as an NPS employee and “commissioned federal law enforcement officer,” according to a criminal complaint. She told authorities that she was using a community shower on the evening of July 4, when she looked up and saw the top of an iPhone camera peaking over the side of the shower, pointed at her.

She said she shouted, grabbed a towel, got dressed, and then with the help of her dog began to search the grounds of the park for the culprit. She said she found him hiding under an NPS vehicle and confronted him about the filming. On Tuesday, federal prosecutors charged Michael Patrick Raridan with one count of filming with intent to violate a person’s privacy and one count of committing an obscene act to breach the peace.

Investigators determined Raridan was a maintenance man who worked in the White Wolf area of Yosemite. He has not yet entered a plea, according to court records.
