SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY With just over a week remaining until the show's return, People attended the premiere event for Yellowstone season 5. When asked whether the upcoming season would be the end for the hit series, Rip actor Cole Hauser assured that "it's not the last season". Additionally, an executive in attendance of the event revealed that creator Taylor Sheridan was absent as he was busy writing Yellowstone season 6.
Even if Yellowstone season 5 had been the end for the show, it wouldn't be anywhere near the end for Paramount's neo-Western franchise. Following the success of last year's 1883, the studio and Sheridan are moving forward on a variety of other Yellowstone spinoffs, including 1923 starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, which is expected to premiere later this year on Paramount+.
Considering the ongoing success of the franchise for Paramount, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear Hauser confirm Yellowstone season 6 is in the works. With Sheridan having a multitude of projects on his plate in that universe, however, along with Mayor of Kingstown season 2 for Paramount+, it will be interesting to see if season 6 does ultimately bring the Costner-led series to a close, or further sets up other spinoffs.
