Kerryanne Shaw, of All Bullie Charity Rescue, said dogs could meet a 'horrific death' if placed in the wrong hands before fresh restrictions on the breed come into force this week.
A rescuer behind plans for a Scottish XL Bully sanctuary has vowed to keep two of the animals in kennels for life after a dog was shot dead.
Kerryanne told the Record the harrowing footage of the incident had sparked a "moral dilemma" over XL Bullies she had been searching for homes for ahead of a change in the law on Friday. Shocking footage of the incident shared on social media shows a number of shots ringing out after police were called to reports of three people being hurt in an incident at Mannering in the Calderwood area. An investigation is now underway to establish the breed of the dog killed.
"We did have an underlying fear something like this would happen because people aren't making sure those taking dogs on are capable of managing them." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
