Of the back catalogue, it would seem Blizzard's RTS games are of importance to Microsoft's head of gaming."StarCraft was a seminal moment in gaming; from an esports perspective, from real-time strategy on console perspective, and from just a real-time strategy storytelling perspective in the genre," Spencer said."Not only StarCraft but Warcraft, when you think about the heritage of real-time strategy games that we're talking about here.
"I'm excited about getting to sit down with the teams at Activision and Blizzard and King to talk about back catalogue and opportunities that we might have," Spencer said."So, I will dodge the question other than to say it's not something I can actively work on right now. But the thought of being able to think about what could happen with those franchises is pretty exciting to me, as somebody who spent a lot of hours playing those games.
While everyone seems to be losing their minds about the potential ramifications of Call of Duty becoming exclusive to Xbox, which Spencer recently said wouldfor"as long as there's a PlayStation out there to ship to," it seems Microsoft is more interested in making the most of other IPs within Activision Blizzard's catalogue.
