An Alabama police chief has a message for 'all of the geniuses out there that can’t tell that there is a difference' between the police departments for Sylacauga and Childersburg.

by people confusing the department with the agency that made the arrest.

Michael Jennings is pastor at Vision of Abundant Life Ministries in Sylacauga but lives in Childersburg, where the minister was arrested in May as he watered his neighbor’s plants., which showed Childersburg police were skeptical of the Black pastor’s story that he was tending to his neighbor’s yard, leading to public outrage.

Meanwhile, Sylacauga police, who did not play a role in the arrest, have been targeted with “hateful messages” on social media by people confusing the department with Childersburg. “This message goes out to all of the geniuses out there that can’t tell that there is a difference in Sylacauga PD and Childersburg PD, For those of you that really don’t know the difference, our city starts with an “S” and their city starts with a “C,’” said Sylacauga Police Chief Kelley B. Johnson.

“Open up your ears when you listen to the news and videos,” the chief added. “None of them say Sylacauga Police were involved. For those of you still confused, Rev. Michael Jennings is a friend of Sylacauga PD and of mine personally. Rant over!!!”, the pastor’s attorneys hinted that his legal options remained open.Note to readers: if you purchase something through one of our affiliate links we may earn a commission.
