The Texas Rangers are seeing its franchise value increase after its historic 2023 World Series run.
The team’s franchise value increased by 8% to $2.4 billion in a slow year of growth for baseball team prices.
After winning the top prize in all of baseball, the team has seen its franchise value increase to $2.4 billion, an 8% increase from last year, according toThough franchise values aren’t everything, they’re still greatly important for any team, said Scott Powers, assistant professor of sport analytics at Rice University.“Franchise value is all sort of a hypothetical for an owner who is not selling the team,” he said.
It’s not all celebration for the champs. The Rangers have the eight lowest operating income in the league with $12 million. Its in-state rival, the Houston Astros, had an operating income of $54 million.For the Rangers, continuing to win can serve to increase the team’s value and its amenities, Rice’s Powers said.
