Police are now appealing for information.

Crooks carried out raids on the vehicles on Thursday between around 12am and around 10am, with incidents reported in Ayr, Kilmarnock and Newmilns.

Cops have launched an appeal following the early morning thefts and are asking residents to check any relevant personal CCTV or ring doorbell footage. Inspector Iain Farmer said: "We would appeal to anyone who has any information regarding the thefts or who may have any relevant CCTV or ring doorbell footage, to contact Police Scotland on 101 and quote incident number 0251 of August 17. Details can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

"I would like to take this opportunity to remind members of the public to ensure that their vehicles and houses are locked and secured to prevent any opportunists from carrying out similar incidents."
