Centenarian Thelma Coyd-Cording says her slender hands have been a blessing to continue on with her career.
Thelma Coyd-Cording, 100, from Nottingham was trained by the queen of cosmetics, Elizabeth Arden when she was 42-years-old but is not ready to retire yet.
"If you have double joints, you can't be a masseuse," explained Thelma from her home in Arno Vale Road, Woodthorpe. "I had the perfect hands to be a masseuse - and won the job over 39 ladies in the queue". Apart from catching Malaria once, she has never been sick. She keeps up her beauty treatments to family and friends in her home, complete with her original Elizabeth Arden treatment bed - which is older than Thelma.Few people can say they have had an authentic Elizabeth Arden facial based on the teachings of the beauty guru in the sixties. Whilst Thelma's regulars have grown and had children of their own, Nottingham-born Thelma has no plans of giving up.
Thelma has a surviving sister, Betty, who is two years younger, and brother, Jeffrey, 91, who jetted in for her 100th on August 15 from America. The mother-of-two and grandmother to three grandchildren and one great grandchild says, with a twinkle in her eye, she can't believe she has reached 100.There's no slowing down for spritely Thelma whose home is adorned with 100th birthday cards, including a signed card from King Charles and Queen Camilla.
