A woman died and a man was injured trying to escape rushing water brought on by Wednesday afternoon’s storms, a Lewisville spokesman said.
The man said he and his wife were walking in a ravine off Fox Avenue near Creekside Drive when the water began to rise quickly and washed away his wife and his bike, city spokesman Matt Martucci said. About 3:50 p.m., several people called 911 to report a man at Southwest Parkway and Bellaire Boulevard who said he’d broken his legs getting out of the water, Martucci said.
About two hours later, Lewisville fire crews found the woman’s body tangled in brush and downed trees in a creekbed near the 400 block of Misty Lane. The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office has not released her identity.
