Although a man told Cleveland Heights police officers that he couldn't have choked the woman who made that claim because of his hand deformities, he was, nonetheless, arrested for the crime.

Thieves stole a Delaware Drive woman's company vehicle from her driveway using the key that was left inside. The car was recovered later that day in Euclid. At 11:40 a.m. Oct. 19, police were dispatched to a Henderson Road home on a report of a disturbance. When the first officer arrived, he found two women on the front lawn.

The woman grabbed her child as her sister began to pull her hair, then punch her multiple times in the face. The bloodied woman ran out of the house, but she said her sister would not allow her son to leave. The woman ran to a neighbor’s residence. Next, she said her sister hit her in the forehead and that she reacted by striking her sister in the face only once, causing the blood to flow. She said the sister with the bloody lip ran from the house, grabbed a stick and began to strike her car. Due to the car’s condition, police could not tell if there was fresh damage.

Because of his intoxication and history of mental health issues, police cited the man for disorderly conduct and had him transported to the hospital. He was also found to be wanted on two CHPD warrants. At 8:45 a.m. Oct. 19, a Yellowstone Road woman reported that, 45 minutes earlier, she took out her trash and noticed that her 2013 Toyota Scion was no longer parked in her driveway.

He said she couldn’t have put his hands on her as she claimed because he has deformities on both of his hands. Both of his pinky fingers, he said, are permanently folded into the palms of his hands. Stolen with the Explorer was the woman’s spare wallet, which contained three credit cards and $150 in cash. The woman immediately canceled her credit cards. Her bank informed her that unsuccessful attempts were made to use all three at 6:10 a.m. at a Harvard Road gas station.
