Gunfire erupted Wednesday inside of a Lewiston, Maine, bowling alley as a children’s bowling league was underway.
At least 16 people are dead and dozens of others are injured following a mass shooting across two locations Wednesday night, including at Just-In-Time Recreation, recently renamed from the Sparetime bowling alley.Authorities say around 7 p.m., a man opened fire inside the bowling alley, and later at Schemengees Bar & Grille.Inside the bowling alley, witnesses described the chaos, which included wounded children. Meghan Hutchinson said she was inside the bowling alley with her daughter Zoey.
“Next thing I know, he was just taking the group that we were in and just corralling us in the corner,” she said. “He put tables over us and just made sure we were safe. He just kind of went into action at that point. It felt like it lasted forever.” Authorities have not said how many people were wounded inside of the bowling alley, but Dumont said she saw the bodies of several victims inside.
