A record number of bills have passed this year that advocates say limit the rights of queer folks, especially the trans community. One family is sharing their story in hopes to raise awareness, understanding and empathy.
However, there’s a lot about Hildie that stands.Hildie identifies as trans nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns, which means that they don’t feel like they belong in either the male or female binary box.
While not all trans and nonbinary people have gender dysphoria, many people who identify as such feel a mismatch between what one was born as and what they feel inside. "The most important thing is to show your child unconditional love and when you have a transgender child that looks like stepping outside of your own comfort zone," Hannah said."It looks like doing the work to learn about your child and their identity."
