“It’s a guy that plays 25 a night, in every situation, so you’ve got to juggle everything,” coach Jared Bednar said of managing a game without MacKinnon. “Do the best you can.”And still, late goals by Rantanen and Alex Newhook slimmed the deficit to 4-3 before the Flyers finally put their foot down with an empty-netter with 59 seconds remaining.
“I thought didn’t have his best night,” Bednar said. “Would have liked to see him come up with one or two of those. And their goalie was really good, so that ends up being the difference in the hockey game.” Such roster moves are the norm right now. Galchenyuk and fourth-line forward Jayson Megna both played while on waivers. They will either clear waivers or be claimed by another team Tuesday afternoon.
