Wind gusts in New Jersey on Friday and Saturday could reach 40 to 50 mph, according to AccuWeather.com.“The earlier it starts, the higher the chance for some form of wintry mix at onset,” thesaid in its Tuesday morning forecast discussion. “Some mix of snow/rain/freezing rain is briefly possible .. but overall impacts from any snow or ice are not expected to be significant.”
The heaviest of the rain is expected to fall overnight into Friday with the strongest of the winds on Friday. Gusts, especially along the Jersey Shore, are expected to be 46 mph or greater. If the forecast holds, weather service would issue wind advisories ahead of time. Inlands gusts could also reach 40 mph or more.
Temps are expected to plunge Friday night into Saturday, dropping into the teens and paving the way for frigid conditions on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Both days will be sunny, but highs will only top out in the 20s and gusty winds will stick around on Saturday. Winds chill values will be even colder.
