The Saint Peter's Peacocks are the Cinderella of the NCAA Tournament, shining a strong spotlight on a group of unknown players. Their parents are getting some of the shine, too.

“It is surreal,” Edert said on Tuesday, hours after NBC 4 New York swung by his home for an interview. “You never expect something like this to happen to your kid, especially playing at Saint Peter’s. As a parent, I’m just soaking it up. It’s not about me, it’s about him and how he’s handling it, but it’s surreal. I’m glad he’s getting the opportunity.”Charity Ndefo, mother of star center KC Ndefo, has received phone calls from family in Nigeria and friends in London.

“A lot of friends from back home are hitting me up, saying they’re shocked to see me on TV,” Banks said. “It’s very surreal.” Saint Peter’s, which finished in second place of the low-major MAAC by three games, was an 18-point underdog. The Peacocks had never won an NCAA Tournament game. They were playing in an arena where, Bill Edert says, “19,950″ of the 20,000 seats were filled by Kentucky Blue.“I thought we were going to lose by 30, 40 points,” he admits. “Just knowing Kentucky.”

“Oh, my god, it’s so intense,” she said. “I’m so nervous. The game is so tight and so intense, so I’m just there praying. It’s tough to watch. I was screaming. All the neighborhood was thinking, ‘Oh, my God, what is going on in that house!’” “Honestly, in my head, I was like ‘Well, they had a great run,’” Bill Edert said. “It was deafening. It felt like it was fourth and one, and Tom Brady was on the 1-yard line trying to score a touchdown. It was so loud. You couldn’t hear anything.”

Lee, who says he gets so nervous watching games that his legs get weak and he has to sit down, was ecstatic with the win. He told his brother Keith, “If you can’t see me, it’s because I’m on Cloud Nine!”
