There's 1 new X-member Shadowkat is skeptical of.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT With the Fall of X taking its toll on mutantkind, the remaining X-Men must stand more united than ever if they hope to save Krakoa's future. Even with their numbers dwindling, and their allies scattered, some X-Men can't help but be apprehensive of the teammates they have left. For an emotionally wounded Kate Pryde, one of the newest X-Men is a painful reminder of all that has gone.
X-Men #25 – by Gerry Duggan, Stefano Caselli and Marte Gracia – shows the remaining mutants rallying after the tragically destructive events of 2023's Hellfire Gala. The issue focuses on Kate Pryde, once again going by Shadowkat, weeks after the Gala. As the X-Men prepare their next moves, Synch tells a despondent Shadowkat that new team member Rasputin IV believes Kate hates her – a statement Kate doesn't deny.
Rasputin IV Reminds Shadowkat Of Her Own Failures Rasputin IV, one of the survivors of Orchis' attack on the Hellfire Gala, now serves as a heroic mutant on the X-Men. In X-Men #25, when Synch says that Rasputin IV believes Kate hates her, Shadowkat doesn't fully reject the statement. Rather, she explains that she struggles to see her new teammate as anything other than a monument to Krakoa's failures.
For Rasputin IV to even exist, the more noble members of Krakoa's leadership had to deal with the evil Mister Sinister, giving him enough freedom to establish his own supremacy in the Sins of Sinister timeline. The Sins of Sinister incident may be the most severe failure in Krakoa's history, but it is only one of many missteps and shortcomings that compounded to make the "Mutant Massacre" at the Hellfire Gala possible.
"I did her thing once. Go back and fix the failings of the previous generation. Now I am the failure," Shadowkat says in X-Men #25. Despite being one of the most morally upstanding members on the Quiet Council, Shadowkat still holds herself to an immeasurably high standard, chastising herself for being unable to avert the disasters to come, her mental state made only worse by her personal experience the night of the Gala.

Letter: Let’s not overlook one significant reason why Utahns aren’t having kids?I just attended a presentation organized by the Salt Lake Tribune and the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute titled ‘Why Aren’t Utahn’s Having Kids?’ This is an interesting and relevant question as we consider declining populations in developed nations. The panel (Emily Harris, Emily Bell McCormick, Derek Monson) discussed factors attributed to this decline including general financial insecurity and the outrageous cost of living, especially housing, as well as shifting attitudes around independence vs. community service.
