BTS World is dominating app charts, and could be a model for future artist and celebrity-based games.
. The game is hitting #1 in a number of app stores around the world, and is already outperforming the much-heralded launch of Niantic’sWhy is it so popular and why am I still playing? Because for what it is,I’m not a BTS fan. Not to say I don’t like the band, I’ve heard a few of their songs and they seem solid enough, but I’m not a regular listener and I couldn’t name any of them until I started playing this game.
a few years ago, I do have kind of a morbid fascination with celebrities turning their brands into literal games .seems like a new level of fan game that is a lot more than just a quick cash-in. The boys have clearly spent an eternity takingphoto shoots specifically for this game, as depending on the text being said in the game, their pictures are reacting accordingly.
The “plot” of this game I find quite…funny. You are acting as BTS’s manager, traveling back in time, trying to assemble the group and make them famous so they can gift the world with their music. This means everything from scenes recruiting them to finding them housing to making sure they clean up after themselves.
I know my usual crowd will laugh all this off but getting outside that bubble for this interesting absurdity has been enjoyable.
