In photographs released by state media, Mr Kim and naval officers are seen standing in a shipyard observing a huge black submarine. The submarine is designed to launch tactical nuclear weapons from underwater, according to KCNA, but North Korea not specified the number of missiles it can carry and fire.
“There are signs of deception or exaggeration,” the Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement, without elaborating.Kim Inae, a spokesperson at South Korea’s Unification Ministry, which handles inter-Korean affairs, said it was “deplorable” that North Korea was continuing to channel its limited resources into developing weapons while ignoring the struggles of its impoverished people.
