Following complaints of an unpleasant odor Monday morning from residents in Sugar Land and other parts of Fort Bend County, the city has reported that a variety of monitors indicate the area's air quality is in the normal range.
Following complaints of an unpleasant odor Monday morning from residents, the city of Sugar Land has reported that a variety of monitors indicate the area's air quality is in the normal range. Authorities were still seeking to locate the source of the odor, which they believe is north of the city.
“Our crews drove to every reported location in Sugar Land and determined there was nothing in the city causing the smell," said Doug Adolph, the city's communications director."Other surrounding areas near Sugar Land have also received complaints. Given the wind is out of the northeast, we believe the odor is originating from a location north of Sugar Land, though we can’t say exactly where.
“The EPA air quality index measuring ozone and particulate matter in Sugar Land is currently being reported as ‘good,’" the update said."Staff continues to monitor the situation and is actively working and communicating with local stakeholders.”
