Winds are set to really kick in this evening
According to the Met Office, heavy rain is set to hit much of the county today, as their precipitation map moving East, with most of the rain looking to fall at around 3pm. For much of the area, it's been a cloudy start, but the heavy rain is expected to start in the afternoon and remain into the night.
The winds are set to ease generally, but tomorrow morning will still see a brisk breeze, with the minimum temperature at 4°C. As the weather moves north, areas such as Lancaster have a yellow weather warning in place for wind today. It also says that some bus and train services will probably be affected, with journeys taking longer. Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges are likely and there may be some short term loss of power and other services.
