WhatsApp users will now have up to 15 minutes to edit their messages

It means users who make spelling mistakes or want to change their mind on how they react to a message will have up to 15 minutes after the message is sent to edit it. However, anyone else involved in the chat will be able to see that your message was marked edited but the edit history will not be shown.

All users have to do to brush up their mistakes is long-press on a sent message and choose 'Edit' from the menu. Like all personal messages on WhatsApp, edited messages will remain protected by end-to-end encryption.According to WhatsApp owner Meta, the future update will be rolled out globally bit by bit and should be available to all users 'in the coming weeks'. It's the latest in a range of features that have been introduced by the messaging service.

Meta owner Mark Zuckerberg wrote on Facebook: "You can now edit your WhatsApp messages up to 15 mins after they're sent!" The company announced two weeks ago that it would introduce a new password protected feature to allow users to hide messages via Chat Lock. Through this feature, users could 'lock and hide' private exchanges by moving them into a folder only accessible with a password or biometric security.
