At the age of 8 I asked my parents to give me a bicycle for Christmas. Not just any bike but a fire engine–red Schwinn bike with a banana seat and high handlebars. They did! Basking in the light of the Christmas tree, it beckoned me to climb aboard and ride away into the bliss of childhood. But then I wrecked it. I crashed into a curb and bent the frame. My dad and I tried to repair it, but the bike was never the same. It let me down.
You were counting on that retirement to carry you, deliver you, entertain you, and fulfill you. But it hasn’t.
