Now back at Juventus, the USMNT international has been reflected on a Leeds United loan spell that did not go to plan last season
Weston McKennie believes playing just one game per week was the reason for his poor stint at Leeds United. Jesse Marsch signed the 25-year-old on loan from Juventus just weeks before his sacking as Whites boss.
A return of zero goals or assists in 19 Premier League appearances made refusing to activate McKennie's £30million release clause a no-brainer once relegation was confirmed. McKennie, now back at parent club Juventus, has featured in all three Serie A games so far despite summer interest from Borussia Dortmund, Aston Villa and Turkish giants Galatasaray.
“You can try, but I can’t do that. Playing one game a week, I didn’t feel I was in the best shape in terms of being able to last a 90-minute game.”
