Council bosses have been investigating which buildings contain reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) material for over two years
Council bosses are assuring parents across West Lothian that all schools have been checked for crumbling concrete and action is being taken at those where it was found.
In West Lothian, all schools have now been checked work has already begun at Windyknowe and Balbardie primaries, among others to remove RAAC. At Windyknowe Primary in Bathgate. RAAC is only present in the nursery area and a small section of the first floor. Replacement roof works for this area are ongoing, with £1.3 million fully funded by West Lothian Council.
In addition to schools, work to remove RAAC planks was recently completed at Fauldhouse Partnership Centre, with work ongoing at Lanthorn Community Centre in Livingston and Whitburn Community Centre.
