A well-known pastor was struck and killed by a Stamford police car Wednesday, according to officials.
Police say Tommie Jackson, a pastor at Rehoboth Fellowship Church, was on foot attempting to cross the road when he was struck by Lockwood's vehicle. They say Lockwood, 24, tried to maneuver his police vehicle to avoid Jackson. Faith Tabernacle also has a pre-school. When Jackson became the pastor at the church more than two decades ago, he dreamed of making the school bigger and better. He was also instrumental in expanding the church before moving to Rehoboth Fellowship across town.
Stamford Mayor Caroline Simmons issued a statement saying, "I am devastated and heartbroken by the untimely passing of Rev. Tommie Jackson. Rev.Jackson was a pillar in the Stamford community and led a life devoted to faith and public service.
