The Weld County Coroner’s Office has identified the Loveland womanafter a tractor sitting on a semi in front of her vehicle hit an overpass, causing concrete debris to fall onto her vehicle.
The driver was identified as Megan Mirella Arneson, 32, of Loveland, in a release sent Tuesday by the coroner’s office. According to Colorado State Patrol Trooper Josh Lewis, Arneson was driving a Honda SUV on I-25 northbound behind a semi that was hauling a track hoe at about 6:06 p.m. Monday. Lewis said it appears the arm of the track hoe struck the concrete overpass at Weld County Road 34, causing concrete debris to fall through the windshield of the SUV and hit Arneson.
Arneson was declared dead on scene. A 10-year-old boy in the SUV with her suffered minor injuries. The truck driver was not injured.The crash and the subsequent investigation, cleanup and inspection led to a lengthy closure of I-25 and WCR 34 Monday night.
